Patrick has been out of work the past week due to a system change at Corning. We have all enjoyed him being home at night and being so helpful around the house - even Mom when he threw ALL of her compost away! He even finished Brienna's dresser that we started just before we moved into the house! However, all good things must come to an end because he started back on third shift last night.
This week we are also having revival at our church. I sent Patrick to church and took advantage of having both the girls at home to myself (as you can tell from the blog posting from yesterday!). Ellie fell asleep in her car seat once we got in the house, so I let her stay there until she woke. This gave me a good amount of time with Brienna and that's how I got the video footage. Ellie woke up promptly at 7:30 for her night-time diaper change and bottle feeding. I already had Brienna in her jammies and she was very helpful with getting Ellie set for bed.
When Ellie was ready to eat, she snuggled on my lap in the rocking chair that's in Brienna's room. We all know that when Brienna isn't getting to be helpful she gets upset. So I pulled her onto my lap, and she and I maneuvered around so she could help feed and burp Ellie. I wish someone would have been home just to be able to take a picture of the whole thing. We had a ball - Ellie smiled and giggled during her feeding, burped easy and went to sleep - even when Boo cried because I had to put her down to get Ellie in bed!
I was shocked that Boo went down as easy as she did considering she hates night-night time right now. She's still not adjusted to the time change from a few weeks ago - I'm determined to move to Arizona so we don't have to worry about that anymore (just kidding mom) - so night-night is hard to do sometimes.
So why did I label this blog "Back to the Norm"? Because at 4:30am, when Ellie woke up for her early-morning bottle, guess who jumped out of her bed and got out her door before Mommy? You guessed it - Brienna! She once again helped Mommy change and feed Ellie and was not thrilled when Ellie went back to her bed and she had to go back to sleep too. So, I solved that problem the way I always do - let the child sleep in my room (the darkest room in the house) and wait for Patrick to come home and wake us up! She enjoyed the mini PJ party and waking up to her head being rubbed. Don't we all love waking up to that!
